Season 3

Dear Friends,

"God in dirty places" (GinDP) is an unconventional initiative that seeks to understand God from the experiences of people in drastic/dirty/unpleasant etc. circumstances. GinDP S1 focused on issues while, GinDP S2 focused on spaces that were considered dirty/unconventional for God to exist. GinDP S3 will focus on "Women" as agents of liberation. GinDP is an opportunity for theological writers and progressive thinkers to articulate their God-talk and experiences through their musings.

It is known that human beings are an intricate balance of everything God intended in creation. Humans, however, were led by greed for power and wealth, subdued everything to enjoy control over the other. Men, among them, assumed their throne of greed, over others through religious sanction, which slowly engulfed societal living as well (still debatable which comes first). This caused huge damage not only to the created order, but also to the thoughts that guide every human being today. This power pyramid simply deceived men to lay their hands over other creations, which was not God's intent.

Women, through the ages have been silenced and made invisible by patriarchal norms and gender role stereotypes that men had created. However, within these times of being made nothing, women have always been proved mettle and the significance of their existence overriding the thought of being weak or vulnerable. In all streams of life, men have occupied spaces that belonged to women and never gave way for persons of other genders to explore and espouse possibilities of living their identity. The rhetoric of Luke’s gospel is a clear indication of the overturning of structures and realizing a world upside-down. In fact, the heart of God’s reign itself in mainstreaming those that were considered unclean, weak and marginalized is a clear indication when Isaiah prophesizes about the Lion and the Lamb drinking water together and the child leading the way.

Therefore, God in Dirty Places S3 is a season exclusively tailored for thirty-one women writers to express their voice on the various themes to dismantle the power pyramid and turn it upside-down, so the earth communities could understand better, God’s intent for creating women and the diversities of creation.

Since this is a continuation of the previous seasons, it carries the same overarching theme, in which, the writers were in a quest to understand and relate ‘dirty’, ‘God’ and personal experiences, and to reflect upon them theologically. ‘Just as I am, dirty, yet accepted by God and feel connected with God.’
